Starting a New Business

Many people are attracted to the idea of working for themselves. They may have a wealth of experience in a particular industry or service area or perhaps they possess a talent that could be turned to profitable use.

Such knowledge and talent is of course essential. But on its own it simply is not enough to guarantee success in business. Such decisions should never be taken lightly. However with the right advice at the outset the potential benefits are enormous.

We can help you BUT we need to be in at the beginning.

We can help you prepare that all important business plan. This will help identify your expected profitability and outline the amount of "working capital" you will need at the outset. If you do not have sufficient personal cash to support the business in this early stage, we can help you raise the necessary business finance, ever mindful of the need to limit one's personal exposure.

We can help too in deciding how the business should be set up (e.g. sole trader, Partnership or perhaps a Limited company).

Once you are set up it is essential to ensure that your internal accounting systems are reliable; not only to satisfy various government departments but also to ensure that you are able to monitor and measure progress against the original business plan. Only this way can problems be identified at an early stage, allowing appropriate action to be taken before it's too late.

Again we can help you with this (more information can be found at "bookkeeping and SAGE Accounting systems").

If all of this sounds a little frightening, don't forget that we are able to help and support you through those early years - We will NOT interfere. Simply guide and advise in areas where appropriate. It is your business after all.
